It is a good time to love to read and be a Star Wars fan. There are a multitude of books for both kids and adults to enjoy coming. This is all leading up to the release of “Star Wars: The Last Jedi”. The books are meant to fill in gaps between “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” and “The Last Jedi”.

The first book that will be coming out is “Star Wars Battlefront II: Inferno Squad”. It releases on July 25 and tell the story of the inferno squad that is being featured in the campaign of “Star Wars: Battlefront II”, which is a video game being developed by DICE. What will be interesting about “Inferno Squad” is that the point of view will be switching sides. Normally, the books for Star Wars focus on the Republic, the Jedi, the rebellion, or the resistance. In “Inferno Squad”, the reader is given the chance to see the war from the imperial side. The book will be focused on inferno squad hunting down partisans of Saw Gerrera’s band of rebels, Gerrera being a character from both “Star Wars: the Clone Wars” and “Star Wars: Rogue One”.

The next book that will come out is simply called “Phasma”. It is being written by Delilah S. Dawson and will tell the backstory of Captain Phasma, a character from “The Force Awakens”. Capitan Phasma did not have a lot of screen time and many consider her to be like Boba Fett in that regard. Not much else has been released regarding this book.

The third major book that will be released in October of 2017 is called “From a Certain Point of View”. This book is a collection of short stories written by 40 different authors. Each story will follow the point of view from a character that appeared in “Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope”. It will not be Han, Luke, or Leia though. It will be a stormtrooper hunting for R2-D2 and C-3PO on Tatooine or a rebel pilot taking part in the battle of Yavin.

There are a lot more books coming out, but those are the big titles. A lot of the newer books are young adult or junior novel books and they will be releasing throughout the rest of the year and it all culminates with the release of “Star Wars: The Last Jedi” December 15, 2017.
